When my son stopped playing the guitar and went to college I decided that the strat looked lonely and that I should learn to play it. took an online course and then a group class that promised that i'd learn a song in 10 weeks. Not great experiences. What a difference a good teacher makes! And I think he's great. Patient, enthusiastic and very reasonably priced. A class act and a very nice guy. A year later I'm still at it. Jimmy page has nothing to worry about but its fun when I play something that is recognizable! Do yourself a favor and sign up.

    best instructor in NYC!!!
i have taken guitar lessons from many instructors around the US and i can honestly say anthony has taught me better than anyone else. when i went fof my first lesson i was a little nervous because the students before me were children; however, by the end of that lesson i realized that anthony is just a well rounded instructor. he incorporates theory into all his lessons so you don't just learn how to play but why you play a certain way which helps when playing with other musicians. every guitarist should take lessons from anthony. the best part about anthony is that he is very inexpensive! the knowledge and skill that i have gained from anthony i would have easily paid double for. he seriously is that good.

Anthony is an amazing guitar teacher. I sent my son to him after a friend of his recommended going to Anthony. My son is 15 years old and believed that if he could rip on the guitar, all the ladies would flock to him. I couldn't let him down, but guitar lessons in New York can be very expensive. Especially in the Manhattan area, so I called Anthony to get pricing and more information on his teaching style. He was friendly and gave me all the information I needed. (His prices are worth it!). He was a godsend. My son has been taking lessons with him for about 7 months now and he can not only ready music and play the guitar, he can also write his own songs. I never even knew my son was musically talented, but Anthony brought out the best in him. I highly recommend this guitar teacher to anyone in the New York area looking for someone who is really dedicated to bringing out the talent in everyone!

Guitar by Anthony deserves 10 stars.

How could there be NO reviews for him on Yelp?  I'm happy to be the first.  I've been a guitarist for over 4 decades and have a degree in classical guitar from a conservatory.  I always played finger style, nylon strings, never even held a pick.  When I decided I wanted to learn steel-string acoustic, a musician friend recommended Tony.  All I can say is, wow.  Not only can he play the heck out of the instrument in any genre you can name, but his people skills and teaching methodology are first-rate.  "Never is heard a discouraging word" in Tony's studio.  And his philosophy, that practicing the guitar should be a source of joy and pleasure, not a punishment, is the mark of a real musician.

Tony teaches children, and beginners, intermediate and advanced players of all ages.  His rates are weirdly inexpensive. How does he do it?  Four half-hour lessons for $100 TOTAL -- yup, that's $25 a lesson.  It would still be a bargain at twice the price.

Tony is a working guitarist with a very strong background in rock and blues, but I've also watched him demonstrate rockabilly, country, jazz, bluegrass, finger-picking/folk and even classical with spontaneity and ease.  Truly, the man does it all.

As a life-long musician I've had numerous teachers in guitar, piano and voice, and even taught a bit myself in the past.  Given my experience, I feel confident in saying that Tony is a superb teacher.  I've referred several people to him who have come back and thanked me.  His positive attitude is inspiring and his systematic, well-thought-out program, tailored to each person's unique needs and desires, is very impressive.

I'm sure there are a lot of great teachers in New York City, but let me save you the trouble of finding one, and encourage you to give Tony a call.  You won't be disappointed.

By the way, Tony has no idea I'm writing this review.  This is unsolicited praise from a very picky, critical person (me).

Anthony keeps you motivated, tailors a program that will simultaneously teach you what you want to learn and make you a well rounded musician.  Well suited for beginners or experienced players.  Oh, and suburban prices in a Manhattan location.
    Highly recommended.

I've been taking weekly lessons with Anthony for a year. To sum it up, he is amazing. I studied classical piano for seven years as a child and hated it. He's totally different. I can't wait to see him each week. I've been with him for a year. No prior lessons. No piano for over 20 years. One year later, I'm actually playing Page, Gilmour, Young, Clapton, and JImi.  The best way to describe him is Mr. Miyagi from Karate Kid. At first, you do all these exercsises. Then one by one, it all comes together and you learn that you had all these skills without even realizing it. Wax on wax off. How about hammer on  pull off. What's better than learning like that.

Wonderful teacher. All styles. Prices are amazingly reasonable for the quality of instruction given. Anthony is a great guy, can't recommend him more.

What can I say, Anthony is absolutely the best teacher ever. His patience and love of music shows through in his lessons. Not only will you learn how to play your favorite songs, but you'll gain valuable insight into the origins behind them. Anyone can "teach" you how to play a song, but Anthony teaches how to play and read music and to experiment with making something like playing scales a lesson in how to create your own licks.
I have to say you definitely get more bang for your bucks when you take lessons from him. I have seen kids and seniors alike in his office and he treats them all with the utmost respect, he really wants all of his students to love not only playing the guitar, but, to also love music, he has often said that it should never feel like a chore when playing, it might kick your you know what sometimes, but once you break through it is a wonderful and rewarding  experience, he truly is a wonderful teacher.
